We decided to try something new this year for Thanksgiving....missing Thanksgiving. We may have lusted for a traditional meal and being surrounded by family, but it was hard to not enjoy our first trip to lovely Maine. Being the off-season, we managed to snag a good deal on an oceanfront hotel in Bar Harbor. "Thanksgiving dinner" happened at the only restaurant open on the holiday, and we enjoyed hiking in the snow in a nearly-abandoned Acadia National Park. I'm already looking forward to our next trip there....

Have I mentioned that my dream job is Travel Photographer? There's almost nothing better than wandering the streets of cities and small towns, capturing the local charm. This is what I'm dreaming about today, so it only seemed fitting that I finally post photos from our recent trip to Germany and Austria. Please enjoy! ============================================================================================ Living in Michigan for nearly 30 years, you would think that I'd make it to the Northern coast of the state to see one of the most beautiful places in the world. Well, good things come to those who wait. We had a lovely, and tourist-free weekend at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in September, and I can't wait to go back! Here is the first set of photos....
Ten days ago I set out on another research road trip to California, with Shawn. Here are some images from the first week....
My intrigue with the world of historic and forgotten things has led me to some seriously interesting places. It's been several months since I've entered an abandoned building, and while I miss it, I'm content with the healthy status of my lungs. Going through old photos, I found some good ones from this set, taken near Pittsburgh last May. This abandoned china factory.....full of abandoned pieces of china....ranks pretty high when it comes to interesting places. I think the state of awe that I was in kept me from taking as many photos as I should have. Thousands upon thousands of dishes and molds, and lots of lovely light....
